[ILUG] Differences between Solaris and Linux

Yea but the Ununtu minimal install has feck all on it. It doesnt have X or any network stuff.

I run arch Linux and a base(minimal) install runs in at about 110MB. I don’t install stuff I don’t use and run a pretty lean system. With X and FVWM. This comes to about 2GB.

What pisses me off is that I like to use Gedit and Bluefish, both of which are gnome apps and due to the dependency system require me to install half of gnome to make them work. As a rule a reasonably useful system with X and something like Gnome or KDE will weigh in at 2.5GB+
