[ILUG] 2x[Q] Samsung DVD+/-R(W), and cleaning PC internals

 thanks everyone for the suggestions.
two or three quick replies to various points raised:

  1. I have no issue with the quality of Sony's drives.
my issue is with Sony. (but to be fair, I should
re-verify there is still a reason to boycott.)

  2. the only printable DVD/CD media I _had_ ever heard of
was the spray-on ink kind (which I have seen). I now
know that kind is nominally only printed on in certain
inkjet printers (which I've never seen), and that there
is a second kind, which is thermal (also never seen).
the third unit I mentioned does indeed use the thermal
kind, so spraying ink around inside the PC is clearly
not an issue. (out of curiosity, is there support
for printing on either kind with Linux/FLOSS?)

  3. it's useful to know Philips may not send the good
     products off-continent. but since I am on-continent,
this isn't too much help as a quality guide. ;-)

cheers!
