In the recent past, there has been some discussion on the list about
ILUG and the lack of real world events organised by it. ILUG is a
users' group - there is no company behind it, there is nobody paid to
organise anything, it's all voluntary.
I recently posted a message about an Ubuntu Dapper launch event a
week from Saturday. I asked for more people to speak. So far, the
silence has been deafening. Not one single person has volunteered to
give a talk at this event.
If the members of ILUG won't volunteer to talk at ILUG events, where
exactly are we going to get people to do so?
Oh - some level of interest would be nice too, even if you're not
going to talk - we'd like to know that a few people will show up in
order to make it worth the time of the speakers to prepare
presentations.
