We are currently recruiting an IT Advisor, Harare, Zimbabwe.
- Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS).
- Two-year contract.
The development worker will work as an IT Advisor alongside SAfAIDS,
assisting with the conceptualisation and implementation of its regional
programme incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICTs) and
HIV and AIDS, as well as building the capacity of staff in Information
Technology (IT) and ICTs. This in turn will assist in improving HIV and AIDS
information communication and benefit SAfAIDS' target audiences in the
region.
The postholder will have a minimum of five years' experience in operating
systems (including Novell and Linux); and substantial experience in Local
Area Network (LAN) / Wide Area Network (WAN) development and maintenance. In
addition, s/he should have the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software
problems and excellent knowledge of IT security, anti-virus and ad-ware
software. Experience in developing webpages, databases and server
maintenance is also essential.
Knowledge of new and emerging ICTs and the ability to share skills and train
staff and partners in ICTs is essential. Good interpersonal, communication
and report writing skills; willingness and ability to work as part of a
small team and plan and implement own work with limited support; excellent
command of the English language and fluency in Shona and/or Ndebele; and an
interest in health and communication related applications are also
essential.
