This is a bit of a long-shot, but here goes:
My Aldi bought Gericom laptop recently gave up the ghost and as Murphy's law
would dictate it was just outside the 2 year waranty period offered by
Gericom.
I understand that a few people on this list may have also bought one of
these laptops.
If you are such a person and were unfortunate enough to have your laptop
break (maybe your screen or at least anything on it other than the
motherboard) and/or are willing to part with it for a reasonable amount af
money, I'd be interested in taking it off your hands.
I'm not even going to bother saying it was running Ubuntu in a pathetic
effort to keep this on topic - oops I just did.
