[snipped]
Hi,
The motion which was voted on, and accepted, was noted by the outgoing
chairperson.
Niall: Could you please provide the exact wording of the motion?
As I remember it, the motion was purely a statement that the committee
were allowed, if they saw fit, to take measures and introduce moderation
of non-subscriber posts only, for the sole purpose of reducing spam.
It did NOT state that we would moderate anything. It did NOT state that
we would, in fact, change anything at all. It DID provide a mandate that
the membership would like less spam on the list and that they would
accept a committee decision, including moderation, that would result in
less spam being on the list.
It's my opinion that it's largely premature to be making the list
moderated at this point in time, until the committee meet and have a
discussion on what framework will be put in place, if any, to deal with
this mandate.
I hope I have interpreted the wishes of the attending members of the
AGM correctly - please feel absolutely free to mail me either on list or
off if I have not done so.
Best regards,
-->Gar
