Yep, they are the same, except for the differences. You can install
ubuntu, then run "apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" IIRC and you have
kubuntu. Works the other way round, too. There's also xubuntu - "apt-get
install xubuntu-desktop". Of course you need to have a network connection
for this, cos there's only one of the three on any CD you may have.

Technical superiority of one over the other simply comes from the fact
that KDE is better than Gnome... <duck>
