  | Geolocation is pretty accurate these days, certainly to the city level.
  | Any web service can tell who you are to the city level pretty accurately
  | without any prior information.

geolocation might tell you something about where
the exchange/switch/whatever is, but that's got
zilch to do with the person or person's location.

when using my French ISP, most sites can work out
I'm in the South of France (but I've been placed
all over the map), and then assume/infer I prefer
Français. (I have no idea what silly assumptions
are made in multilingual countries, such as Canada,
 Belgium, or (technically) Ireland.)

when using a backup ISP (none of which are French),
 then, AFAIK, the geolocating is completely wrong;
 e.g., I suspect a long-distance call to Ireland
would put me someplace in NI (not confirmed).
of course, in that case, a guess I prefer English
 would be correct.

UIs which don't allow me to fix the location/locale
mistakes are really Really Annoying (almost as stupid
and bad as UIs which presume (typically) N.American
snail-addresses or phone numbers). grumble ......

crawls back into 'is 'ole,
