Did you check the md5sum? It's entirely possible that a corrupt ISO file
existed on servers for a while. It sucks, but these things do happen
occasionally.
I rather suspect it's not a cdrecord issue.
ob cdrecord-tip: For debugging issues with cdrecord, try adding -v or
even -vv - which makes things a lot more verbose and allows you to see
what's going on when things go wrong.
