If in fact you are new to Linux it is bizarre that you start with Fedora 4,
since the current version is Fedora 6.
Apart from anything else, you are not likely to find many people running FC-4,
to give you any help you may need.
I imagine Fedora 6 is as good as any other distribution
for the applications you mention.
I may be wrong, but I don't think any distribution
will provide everything necessary to play DVDs, for legal reasons.
I think you have to find slightly irregular repositories for this.
