Also...  the 2850 doesn't have SATA drives.  Is Cormac using a 2950,  
perhaps?

We did have problems getting Debian (and Ubuntu) to work on a 2950,  
but I know that we succeeded in the end; I could prod the guys to  
cough up details if necessary...
