I did the dist-upgrade.

But, when Ubuntu starts go to the terminal. I mean, the desktop did not
start.
I used the following to install Ubuntu desktop
1- aptitude update
2- aptitude install ubuntu-desktop

But it is still go to the terminal, I mean, the desktop did not start.

when I coded startx
I got this msg. xinit: server error.

Do you have an idea about how I start my GUI for Ubuntu?
