Agreed, virtually all of the noise that makes it through to my gmail
inbox since subscribing recently is either a> spam on the ILUG list or
b> discussion about spam on the ILUG list. Of the spam I haven't seen
anything that appears to be from a member's address and as such
closing the list should bump our success rate up from 99.9% to very
near 100%.

I used to be fairly anti the idea of member-only posts but given the
list manager is the best place to filter spam I'm satisfied that the
benefit of such measures outweighs the minor inconvenience cost. That
said I don't run the list so it's not my call, and those that do
appear to be uninterested in making this change,
