Having witnessed a 10s old laptop hd being dropped
from waist height onto concrete (yes he signed the
credit card slip and then just dropped the disk),
I can confirm that it doesn't work after that.
However Ian Dowse¹ opened it up and popped back
the head arm into its slot and bobs your uncle.
