[ILUG] Netopia ADSL modem again

[ILUG] Netopia ADSL modem again

Timothy Murphy tim at birdsnest.maths.tcd.ie
Thu Sep 7 13:44:10 IST 2006

You ILUGgers were kind enough to help me get my Netopia ADSL modem working.
Now I have two small queries:

(1) The modem sets rather short dhcp leases - about 20 minutes -
so my /var/log/messages gets filled with messages like

Sep 7 13:19:22 alfred dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to 192.168.1.254 port 67
Sep 7 13:19:22 alfred dhclient: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.254
Sep 7 13:19:22 alfred dhclient: bound to 192.168.1.1 --
	renewal in 1645 seconds.

I guess I could send these messages somewhere else,
but is there any way of increasing the length of the leases?
(I didn't see anything in a quick look at Netopia's local web-page.)

(2) Is there any way to configure the modem
to forward tcp port 80 to 192.168.1.1 ?
