[ILUG] Fatal error loading ivtv module

[ILUG] Fatal error loading ivtv module

Trying to turn my nice shiny new Dell into a MythTV box running on Kubuntu
Dapper.

Being driven demented by the setting up of the ivtv driver.

The module compiles without errors (after a wee bit of tweaking), but won't

load no matter what I try.

After:

depmod

I try:

modprobe ivtv

and get the following error:

FATAL: Error inserting ivtv (/lib/modules/2.6.15-26-386/ivtv/ivtv.ko):
Invalid
module format

dmesg gives the following message:

ivtv: version magic '2.6.15-26-386 preempt 486 gcc-4.0' should
be '2.6.15-26-386 preempt 486 gcc-4.0'

I think it's the two spaces between the '386' and 'preempt' before
the 'should' that is causing the problem, but alas, I have no idea of how to

fix it.

I've tried adding a space at the end of EXTRAVERSION in the /usr/src/linux
Makefile, but that just causes 'make install' on compiling the module to
fail. I'm more or less completely ignorant concerning the whole compilation
process.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.
