Hi,
I have Redhat 9 Linux. A windows XP system is on the network which has a hp
4100 printer shared.
The following command works to print a text file.
cat filename | smbclient //server/printer -c "print -"
But I cannot print other document format like pdf, staroffice.
I tried the following link
http://excess.org/docs/linux_windows_printing.html
and these commands
ls -l /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb
ln -s `which smbspool` /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p Laser -v parallel:/dev/lp0 -P /root/laser.ppd
/usr/bin/enable Laser
/usr/sbin/accept Laser
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -d Laser
Where laser.ppd is the device drive for the specific printer taken
from linuxprint.org
But still the printer prints Garbage.
Can someone suggest on anything I missed out?
Regards,
