Hope it's not too off topic.

This is for my home lan,
(my children tend to leave their machines on 24\7)
and my 2007 (hopefully) 3D render farm (WinXP)

Is it possible?
to boot\shutdown\start-programs on xp machines from Linux,
any particular distro more suitable than another? (currently using fc5)

I've done a search on the usual places and didn't see what was looking for:
