Join a small team of talented Information Technology professionals who manage the operation of the Ask.com’s European web properties. We’re the people who make sure that www.ask.com , works and works fast!
In this role you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the organizations Internet Operations. Building and maintaining Linux and Windows servers(mostly Linux though), designing and improving network architectures, and creating clever automation to simplify infrastructure tasks are just some examples of the work you will be doing. You will also have to setup monitoring and fight fires as they arise to ensure 24x7x365 operation. You will work with our development and quality assurance teams to take their products live and maintain them.
You will possess at least two years of IT work experience or a strong computer science academic background. Significant experience with all of the following is required:
• PC hardware
• Linux
• TCP/IP
• HTTP
In depth experience with at least one of the following is also required:
• IIS or Apache
• Windows 2000/2003
• Perl
• Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls
• Hardware TCP Load balancers / Layer-7 switches
• MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle or other SQL database platform
Most importantly you will have an intuitive understanding of technology coupled with a self-starting attitude and a desire to learn, thinker, and make things work better.
As this role is located across two sites having own car is an advantage.
