Actually, I get email by various means,
including UUCP which leaves the email in /var/spool/mail/.
I do occasionally use fetchmail,
which also leaves mail in /var/spool/mail/, I think.
I assume it is then collected from there by kmail.
Perhaps you, or some kind soul, could explain to me
exactly what happens in your (or their) scenario
to a single item of mail.
