[ILUG] Intel wireless and 802.11g

I've got an 802.11b wireless router and a laptop with an Intel wireless
chipset (3954). Is it worth upgrading the router to 802.11g from a speed
point of view (I'm not too concerned about the whole security dimension of
this as both 802.11b and g have been well cracked.) Does the intel wireless
driver support 11g's 54Mbps rate? Is it worth the cost? Thoughts?
f.
