First, check with your supplier what they require from you. Sometimes
the backplate from the disk enough.
Secondly, if the disks are functional enough for you to read, are they
functional enough for you to run something like "shred" on?
Thirdly, a degausser powerful enough to wipe the info on your disks
will very likely also break some of the sensitive mechanisms in there.
