With just a week to go to SkyCon this is just one last reminder of what SkyCon
will offer folks.

** BEGINS **

International and Indigenous IT Giants Flock to Limerick for IT Conference

Some of the biggest names in the Global IT Landscape will speak in the
University of Limerick on February 16th-18th at the "SkyCon"
conference.

Companies in attendance will include RedHat, Microsoft, Ericsson,
Oracle, Sun Microsystems, HEAnet, Blacknight Solutions and Corvil.

SkyCon itself, is a three day event that will encompass many diverse
aspects of IT. It will cater for people who are interested in areas
ranging from open source side of computer development, to commercial
software such as Microsoft and Oracle, and debates on software patent
issues.

Open Source Software refers to any computer software whose source code
is available under a license that permits users to study, change, and
improve the software. Development of such software is usually done
over the Internet by teams of programmers, often from opposite sides
of the globe. As such, a strong international community forms around
these projects.

Laura Czajkowski, President of Skynet stated "We are deeply honoured
and excited to have the leading figures in open source development in
attendance at the conference as well as the many multinational
companies coming along and how how they are using open source".

Leading Open Source programmers from around the world shall also be
travelling to Limerick for the three-day conference. In total, thirty
talks are planned, with topics ranging from "Electronic Voting in
Ireland; past and future" to "Mobile Internet: its future, the
challenges and the Open Source solutions".

David Dolphin PRO of Skynet added "Open source software is being
adopted more and more by businesses for it's reliability, security and
robustness and the experiences of companies like Blacknight Solutions
and Sun Microsystems will further aid in getting the word out that
businesses can save money and have choice when it comes to the
software they can use".

Further details, including tickets for the event, are available from
