Are you using Fedora core 6?
The printer admin tool on that is great, much better than previous ones,
and it nicely autodiscovers printers on the local network, allowing you
to just select a .ppd file and off you go.
Mind you, it does seem to have problems with printers that support
internet printing protocol.
