I have a box running Debian etch which is a Xen server. It also
serves as a NIS
and NFS server for the domUs. I just installed Ubuntu edgy in a domU
and it will
not bind to the NIS server, despite its having the same yp.conf as
the working
dapper domUs, which is a one liner with
domain MY-NIS server myserver.tld.com
When I start ypbind on a dapper domU in debug mode this is what I see:
root at dev0:~# ypbind -d
3025: parsing config file
3025: Trying entry: domain MY-NIS server myserver.tld.com
3025: parsed domain 'MY-NIS' server 'myserver.tld.com'
3025: add_server() domain: MY-NIS, host: myserver.tld.com, slot: 0
3025: [Welcome to ypbind-mt, version 1.19.1]
3025: ping interval is 20 seconds
3028: ping host 'myserver.tld.com', domain 'MY-NIS'
3028: Answer for domain 'MY-NIS' from server 'myserver.tld.com'
3028: Pinging all active server.
3028: Pinging all active server.
3028: Pinging all active server.
3028: Pinging all active server.
3028: Pinging all active server.
3025: ypbindproc_domain_2_svc (MY-NIS)
3025: Pinging all active server.
3025: YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: server '1.2.3.4', port 658
But when I start ypbind on the edgy domU in debug mode this is what I
see:
root at edgy:~# ypbind -d
2821: parsing config file
2821: Trying entry: domain MY-NIS server myserver.tld.com
2821: parsed domain 'MY-NIS' server 'myserver.tld.com'
2821: add_server() domain: MY-NIS, host: myserver.tld.com, slot: 0
2821: [Welcome to ypbind-mt, version 1.19.1]
2821: ping interval is 20 seconds
2823: ping host 'myserver.tld.com', domain 'MY-NIS'
2823: Answer for domain 'MY-NIS' from server 'myserver.tld.com'
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
2823: Pinging all active server.
i.e. it doesn't bind to the server.
