[ILUG] mobile internet in dublin

Joerg Baach lists at baach.de
Tue Jan 23 15:33:10 GMT 2007

Hi *,

as I am new to this list (and Dublin as well) my short intro - my name
is Joerg Baach, I am a 34 year old freelance web developer from Germany.
There are a small number of open source/community projects I am involved
in (copycan.org, directionless.info). For development I used PHP a lot
in the past, now prefering python and zope. My laptops have been running
linux for a couple of years, debian on x31 being the latest
installation. In my spare time I like to do Aikido, Tango and Tapdance.

The last mentioned laptop is also what I would like to use to hook up to
the internet from the nice cafes around town. I have seen there are some
wimax companies, and o2 seems to offer UMTS in a somewhat decent
package. My question is if anybody has experience with the PCMCIA Cards
required/bundled, and how well they run in linux, or if there are better
alternatives to go mobile?

Thanks a lot,

  Joerg
