Hi All,
As part of the FOSS Conference we're running Limerick from 16th - 18th
Feb, we are running a social event on the 17th including a GPG/CACert
keysigning party.

We already have 1 CACert super-assurer
(http://wiki.cacert.org/wiki/SuperAssurers) and will hopefully have a
2nd.

The location is the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, 19:00 Saturday, 17th
February. Map at
http://www.kilmurrylodge.com/hotel_info/location_map.291.html All welcome.

For GPG signing you will need:
Your GPG public key
2 forms of photo ID (passport, driving license)

For a FAQ on GPG, why you need it and how to do it see
http://wiki.openskills.net/OpenSkills/OpenPGP+Key+Creation

I've also written up a bit on keys and why they need to be signed at
https://wiki.skynet.ie/Users/GPGKeys

The easiest way to distribute your public key is to have a piece of
paper with the following info on it:
skynet(~)> gpg --fingerprint davisc at skynet.ie
pub 1024D/B47FDDBF 2005-09-05 [expires: 2015-09-03]
      Key fingerprint = 9E0E 3AE2 5313 1660 4D6C 5967 DB25 266B B47F DDBF
uid Cian Davis <davisc at skynet.ie>
uid Cian Davis <cian.davis at ul.ie>
uid Cian Davis <cian.davis at skynet.ie>

CACert is a bit along the same lines but is of primary use for website
certs. If website certs aren't signed, they generate an error. Problem
is, getting them signed costs about €100 a year. CACert are trying to
get a free, trustworthy signing organisation that will hopefully
integrated into browsers.

You need to sign up for a CACert account at http://www.cacert.org For
each certification, you need a printed cert from the site. We will do
our best to have a net connected computer and printer there but if you
can, please bring the certs with you.

Normally, you need 3 or 4 people to get you to Assurer status. The
Super Assurer at the party will be able to make you an assurer
immediately. It's done to try and seed a geographical area with assurers.

If there will be any other CACert assurers at the event, please let me
know.

Lastly, the conference itself, SkyCon (http://www.skycon.skynet.ie),
will have many high level speakers including Val Henson, Alan Cox and
Robert Chassell. Also, many of Ireland's own FOSS experts will be
attending. It promises to be an interesting weekend. Tickets available
online.

Regards,
Cian Davis
Vice President, UL Computer Society
