<Here it gives the  message>

[root at linux-2.6.3]# depmod -a
depmod: cannot read ELF header from /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/modules.pnpbiosmap

And make install gives

Kernel: arch/i386/boot/bzImage is ready
sh /home/src/linux-2.6.3/arch/i386/boot/install.sh 2.6.3arch/i386/boot/bzImage
System.map ""
No module BusLogic found for kernel 2.6.3
mkinitrd failed
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1
make: *** [install] Error 2
