[ILUG] ISO/IEC DIS 29500: OOXML

[ILUG] ISO/IEC DIS 29500: OOXML

Is the lug taking any position on this issue? The ODF
Alliance<http://odfalliance.org>is asking that we ask our national
standards authority (NSAI see below) to
disapprove the draft international standard of microsofts OOXML format.
I'm not massively active in this area but I do know that we don't want
Microsoft's standard to be ratified for lots of reasons detrimental to open
standards.
I just wanted to post this to the lug to see if a group effort could be made
before I went ahead and let the NSAI know my opinion individually (which
probably won't count for jack s**t)

Contradiction Review, with deadline February, 2, 2007, and continued with a
five-month ballot, currently underway, with deadline September 2,
2007. NSAI, as advised by its ICT Standards Consultative Committee (ICTSCC)
, elected not to raise any objections during the Contradiction Review
period, and is currently engaged in a study aimed at establishing its
national position on the ballot. As you or your organization made a
submission to NSAI during the Contradiction Review, we are hereby reminding
you of the ensuing ballot, and indicating that should it be wished to submit
any further comments to us they must be received no later than Thursday,
July 11, 2007, to ensure that they can be input to an advisory report to
ICTSCC which is being prepared by a technical ad-hoc group of the Committee.
