Personally, when updating the BIOS on a machine,
I do exactly what the manufacturer recommends,
as I have had very unpleasant experiences in the past
trying to be clever.
If Lenovo/IBM tell me to shut my eyes and count to 10
when updating their BIOS that is exactly what I will do.
