[ILUG] Urgent help required regarding MailScanner.pid

PID stands for 'Process ID' - some programs will create one in order
to let other, cooperating programs know what the process id of the
program is. It only contains that number; no other special data. The
absence of one usually implies that the process is not running.

However this may not be your problem. I don't recognise the mail log
format but it looks like the lines which mention it (from May) are
unrelated to your current problem - especially the 'www' bit.
