[ILUG] System load explained.

[ILUG] System load explained.

Hi,
We are having an opteron system that gets locked out at times with high
load. The load average touches around 20. Is there anyway to decipher the
load average taking the /var/log/messages or other syslogd notifications. We
want to take a snapshot of the system at regular intervals and try and
isolate the process that might be responsible for the system going down.

 12:43:53 up 11 days, 15:03, 38 users, load average: 0.08, 0.05, 0.08

Regards,
--Walter
