Logical Domains: Introduction and Roadmap
Logical Domains, or LDoms, is a virtualisation technology for
servers based on the UltraSPARC CMT (Niagara/Rock) family of processors.
It allows a user to allocate a system's various resources, such as
memory, CPUs, and devices, into logical groupings and create multiple,
discrete virtual machines, each with their own operating system,
resources, and identity within a single computer system.
Next month's LOSUG speaker will be Liam Merwick, an LDoms developer,
who will give an overview of the LDoms architecture, an update on
developments since the release of LDoms 1.0 back in April and a
brief look at the roadmap for upcoming features.
Future dates for your diary:
o November 21st - Paul Mitchell, OpenCluster
o December 19th - TBA
