Hi,
I have found a nice freeware addressbook +calender sync utility
(MyPhoneExplorer) for Sony Ericsson phones.

It is a Windows app but the user forum gave tips for using with wine
under linux - works fine but the MyPhoneExplorer app cant see the phone!

The forum suggested the links:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 kinsella kinsella 12 2007-09-26 12:03 com0 -> /dev/ttyACM0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 kinsella kinsella 12 2007-09-26 12:09 com1 -> /dev/ttyACM1

where com0/1 are the windows com ports.

People who have SE phones will know that when you connect to a pc with
usb cable you can choose "Phone mode" or "File transfer" mode.

When (as works under WinXP) I connect using phone mode the
MyPhoneExplorer app running under wine does not "see" the com port.

When I checked /proc/bus/usb/devices

I got

kinsella at jkcray:~ >cat /proc/bus/usb/devices |grep -i sony -B4 -A6

T:  Bus=04 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#=  4 Spd=12  MxCh= 0
D:  Ver= 2.00 Cls=02(comm.) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs=  1
P:  Vendor=0fce ProdID=d039 Rev= 0.00
S:  Manufacturer=Sony Ericsson
S:  Product=Sony Ericsson K800
S:  SerialNumber=3547160169341040
C:* #Ifs=10 Cfg#= 3 Atr=80 MxPwr=500mA
I:  If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 0 Cls=02(comm.) Sub=08 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
I:  If#= 1 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=02(comm.) Sub=02 Prot=01 Driver=cdc_acm
E:  Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS=  16 Ivl=16ms
I:  If#= 2 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=0a(data ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=cdc_acm

So linux "sees" my phone under "Phone mode".

Any suggestions why wine doesnt??

Thanks

John
