Yeah we faced the same issue. Most datacentres don't like mobile phones
so I presume GSM modems are out. We got around it by renting a server in
a different country to do the nagios stuff and hook nagios up to
clickatell. The assumption being that network connections to both
systems are unlikely to go down at the same time ;)
