So, I brought it home and plugged in an external monitor and the lappy's
display looked fine! Not too stable though, X would occasionally crash.
This happened both with RHEL5 and Ubuntu 8.04 (not 7.1 as previously
stated).
Still not happy, I did a network install of FC6 (of the home network
repository) which would only run in text mode if there was no external
monitor connected. It came up after the install with X working fine. Not
sure what resolutions yet, just shut down and went to bed.
Wireless next, probably with ndiswrapper 'cos of the broadcom wireless nic
on board. After that, I just have to download the internet to hard disk so
I can use it down the country...
