I can't believe that the record industry still believes that all the music
that is pirated would have been legally bought were it not available through
piracy. They see it as lost sales, when in fact it should be seen as market
widening. If people get a taste of music and piracy and like the music, they
are more likely to buy music from the artist in the future. I also think
that the bullying tactics have to stop. Prosecuting one person for the acts
of countless others and using them as an example doesn't seem to be working.
Their business model is aging to fast for them to keep up, and that is what
I believe to be their major problem.
