That what earlier versions of Thunderbird did for me (Kmail does the same as
well), but I recall Thunderbird 2 being the only client that did the right
thing.
I just tested it again now and Thunderbird 2 not only preserves the dates in
the headers, but also the copied/moved emails are listed in the correct
date order in the web UI.
