I will process the strings as (WARNING: no bash code)
CURRENTMONTH=`echo $CDSTAMP | awk '{print substr($1,5,2)}'`
TEMPVAR=`echo $CURRENTMONTH | awk '{print substr($1,2,1)}'`
if TEMPVAR is equal to 8 or 9 you would need to strip the original
leading 0 when making any operations in the script and add it when
using file names.
