I don't mean to give you a hard time, and was far more amused than
curious, but -- at the risk of belabouring the point:

You were appealing to people (hypothetically) annoyed enough to (in
theory) hurl verbal abuse at you personally, asking them if they'd
please be kind enough to not do so, out of (one assumes) their innate
benevolence and courtesy.

That speaks well for the good breeding of ILUG's (hypothetical) flamer
population, I guess.  They might be distant relatives of W.S. Gilbert's
illustrious Penzance pirate troup.
