Oh, despite claims on the web that disk access is slow with the stock
Debian kernel, I found the RAID-1 rebuild managed to consistently
write over 50MB/s to each disk, concurrently. It manages >43MB/s
writes to each disk, concurrently through an ext2 fs on top of
RAID-1.
Which is fast enough for my purposes.
