[ILUG] SCM for configs

[ILUG] SCM for configs

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone is using GIT or SVN or other to manage version
control for server configuration files across a cluster? I'm looking to
set something up but would like to hear from anyone that might already
have some good recipes they might like to share.

The criteria are straightforward:

Certificates or public key encryption to verify the "master config
server" (this could be achieved using an SSH server I guess).

Some way of organizing configs into hierarchies (without necessarily
going down the puppet route)

A centralized "master config server" that can easily be decentralized
(or cloned.. ala GIT) if required.
