I got bitten by a nasty little change in Samba between 5.0
and 5.1. The default value of, IIRC, the 'msdfs root' share
config item changed from yes to no. Unfortunately, Windows
clients seem to cache this property of a server and require
a restart to refresh it. Until either the client is rebooted,
or smb.conf is updated with explicit 'msdfs root = yes' settings,
clients can't access files. And if some clients reboot
before you update smb.conf, they'll need to be rebooted again
afterwards.

I was a little disappointed with Red Hat on this one. But I
ain't payin', so I ain't complainin' :-)

Later,
Kenn
