[ILUG] ASUS EEE availability and Komplett US model

[ILUG] ASUS EEE availability and Komplett US model

Niall O Broin niall at linux.ie
Sun Feb 17 13:48:34 GMT 2008

I ordered an Asus EEE from Expansys on Feb. 4 at which time they
quoted 5 days delivery. Their delivery time has slipped repeatedly
and they're now quoting 1 March. Meanwhile, back at the web browser,
Komplett has 40 of the model I want in stock, but with the US
International KB layout (Komplett SKU 345839). Now as it happens this
suits me nicely, as this is my preferred layout (though I bet the
Control key will be in the wrong place).

However, what concerns me is that the wall wart power supply may be
U.S. too, and that I'd prefer to not have. AIUI the EEE's wallwart is
auto ranging, and is supplied outside the U.S. with different sets of
prongs for different country's sockets, but U.S. sourced models are
not supplied with these prongs. I've asked Komplett, and a human has
acknowledged the question, and is investigating it for me. So, have
any of you purchased this SKU from Komplett and if so, what power
supply did you get?

Niall
