OK I'll bite.
I use both redhat and debian servers in work,
ubuntu on my work desktop and fedora on my laptop.
I would not describe any as a "pile of shite", in fact
they're all quite good and have their own strengths.
Having interacted with both the ubuntu/debian and redhat/fedora developers,
in general I find the latter's engineering much stronger.
Ubuntu's strengths are in its interaction with end users,
especially their marketing organization.
