Absolutely. I've paid a (much) bigger jump in price and been very
happy with decision. Trust me, you'll never go back.

Well, technically you're supposed to pay import duty but every second
passenger has a laptop so it's hard to spot a new one. If you don't
need the box, then throw it away (or have someone else carry the empty
box for you). Put the laptop itself in a carry-on bag (and have
previously used it so it's not at the Welcome to Macintosh screen.
Hide the documentation, CD's etc in your luggage. (of course I would
never do that myself ;-)
