I went through this with a different Dell firmware update and gave
up in the end. Those scripts are heavily RedHat specific (Dell must
have gone out of their way to achieve this really...)

There is a Dell project to integrate firmware updates directly
with the package management systems, this looks more promising
but when I tried it a couple of months ago it seemed the debian/ubuntu
bits weren't working properly :(  Looks like it's still a beta...
