Thanks. I see you've also added the truncate command which
coincidentally addresses another question I asked here previously:
http://www.linux.ie/lists/pipermail/ilug/2005-June/080172.html

Of course the reason I posted these queries here is that I didn't want
to reinvent the wheel if (as seemed likely) timeout or truncate
already existed as standard commands. So it's great to know that they
now do!
