That's more than a coincidence I think.
My crusty memory is hinting that there were 2 drivers
available for that device, a bcm4400 from broadcom,
and an in kernel b44 one. The later fixed the issue on
the laptop. Now it wasn't my laptop so I'm really
scraping the memory barrel here.
