Most Dell printers are rebadged Lexmark devices, and Lexmark is just
about the worst brand out there for Linux support.

You're funny - current generations of low end printers are designed on
the Gilette model - sold as cheap as possible, with the profit coming
from selling ink which is more expensive than Unicorn tears,

I use a HP Deskjet F4100 on OS-X and it works nicely, though
apparently its Linux support is poor (I suspect it can probably print
but not scan)
